ENGINEERING PERFORMANCE

Jackie We had a late date, but I still had two hours!

Gordon I was very nervous. I had to relax while listening to music.

Jackie the waitress led me back to the table. He got up to hug me and I noticed that he was taller than me even though I was wearing heels – that doesn’t happen often. He was really cute! Definitely my type. He’s dressed well for the date too.

Gordon She was cute! She was dressed much nicer than me and wore funny polka-dot trousers.

GET TO KNOW YOU

Jackie We talked about the restaurant. I had asked about the place – it had been on my list for a while and I was excited to be there. We covered most of the usual first date topics like work, hobbies, family.

Gordon She is a really nice person. She volunteers to teach hockey to children. We talked about what we like to do in our free time, where we vacation and how long we’ve been in Boston.

Jackie We actually live in the same city. We are both from another state but went to college in Massachusetts and graduated the same year, are both the oldest children and recently discovered the joy that defines Ted Lasso.

Gordon We both love plants and enjoy hanging out with children.

Jackie I was surprised to learn that he and his friends had planned their own questions to ask as they get to know each other (“When you go to a museum, how long do you stay and what do you look at?”) That he keeps asking addressed the date.

Gordon We ordered a range of foods and drinks. I would rate the food with 4 out of 5 points.

Jackie We ordered three small plates – hummus, falafel, and a beef dish – and a lamb dish, which we split up. The food was wonderful and unexpected.

Gordon I was nervous at first but opened when the food arrived. Getting drinks was a big help. Once we got through the paperwork, it was fun to see more of her personality.

Jackie I felt very comfortable talking to him all night. I was physically attracted to him, but as I heard more about him, I became more and more interested.

Gordon She seems to have a very rich life. It was nice to see what she is passionate about.

FINAL PROCESSING

Jackie We both declined the dessert, but it seemed like a natural ending, not that we wanted to actively leave.

Gordon We stayed and continued talking after paying the bill.

Jackie We exchanged numbers and he hugged me. I wish there was a bit more spark in the end.

Gordon We hugged and said goodbye. I didn’t want to rush anything, especially not on a blind date.

SECOND DATE?

Jackie In fact, we’ve already written about plans for another date. I enjoyed the time with him and I want to get to know him better.

Gordon I think so.
