David Arquette’s daughter won’t see ‘Scream’.
The actor, who met Coco’s mother Courteney Cox on the set of the cult horror classic, has admitted that his daughter finds it “strange” to see her parents in the film.
He told Entertainment Tonight: “I tried to see one with her once, she said, ‘I can’t do this, that’s too strange’. I don’t know. It’s hard for me to watch too.
“She’s just 17, I’m not sure she’s really ready to dive deep into the origins of her parents’ previous relationship.”
David married Friends star Courteney in 1999 and they welcomed Coco into the world in 2004, the same year the sitcom ended after its tenth season.
The couple dated for over two decades, but separated in 2010 and eventually divorced in 2012.
David’s comments come as the former flames are reunited in the upcoming fifth episode of the ‘Scream’ franchise.
Although it will return with original cast members Neve Campbell, Roger L. Jackson and Marley Shelton, it will be the first film in the series that Wes Craven did not direct after his death from a brain tumor in 2015.
Instead, ‘Southbound’ director Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillet, who co-directed ‘Devil’s Due’ in 2014, will take over the helm.
David spoke of the loss of his former director, but said his presence on the set of ‘Scream 5’ was still very felt.
He added, “It was great. I mean it’s hard without Wes, you know, that was on the front line. but [I] felt his energy there, and certain moments and certain scenes, you just feel the wind and think, ‘I don’t know, maybe I’m a bit like a hippie in my heart, but I felt his energy there. It also brought back many memories of Wes. “
