Courteney Cox: Friends Emmy Snubbed Injured! | People

Courteney Cox admits it “hurts” being the only “Friends” actress not nominated for an Emmy.

The actress’s portrayal of clean cook Monica Geller was never recognized by the Emmy Awards, while the other five leading actors – Lisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer – all received multiple nominations.

Kudrow won the Emmy in 1998 for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her portrayal of the insane Phoebe Buffay, and Aniston was named Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Rachel Green in 2002.

On ‘The Howard Stern Show’ she said, “Yes, it always hurt my feelings. When every single actor but me was nominated, it definitely hurt my feelings. I was happy for everyone, and then when it finally happened was like, ‘Oh, I’m the only one?’ It hurts.”

“Friends” received a total of 62 Emmy nominations during its ten-year run and won six, including the standout 2002 comedy series for its eighth season, in which Rachel gave birth to baby Emma with Schwimmer’s alter ego Ross Geller.

Cox, 57, took immense pride in receiving a Golden Globe nomination for the first season of her subsequent sitcom, “Cougar Town” – which was co-produced by Coquette Productions, the company she founded with ex-husband David Arquette .
