Courteney Cox received her first Emmy nomination for “Friends” two decades after the show ended



Courteney Cox is finally going to work for her Friends – almost three decades after the show started!

The Emmy Awards 2021 The nominations were announced on Tuesday (July 12th) and the HBO Max special Friends: The goodbye received a special (pre-recorded) variety show from the Television Academy.

As executive producer for the special, this is a sign Courteney first Emmy nomination for her work on the show.

The sitcom received 62 Emmy nominations during its ten-year run. Five went to Jennifer Anniston, which was nominated for Comedy in the Supporting Actress category in 2000 and 2001. From 2002 to 2004 she switched to the main comedy category and took home the 2002 award.

Lisa Kudrow was nominated a total of six times, all in the supporting actress category for comedy and won in 1998.

Matthew LeBlanc scored three nominations in the Main Comedy Actor category while from 2002 to 2004 Matthew Perry was nominated as the main actor in the comedy in 2002. David Schwimmer received a nomination as a supporting actor for comedy in 1995.

Courteney was the only actor from the cast who was snubbed and never received a nomination for her later acting work, making this her first overall Primetime Emmy nomination.

She spoke to Howard Stern about the snub last month when she told the radio host that while she was happy for her friends, it was annoying to be excluded.

“It was like, ‘Oh, I’m the only one?’ It hurt, ”she said.

Friends: The goodbye was broadcast in May and was also nominated in the categories of special vaudeville production, special vaudeville production design and special vaudeville lighting design / direction.
