Dolly Parton pulled Jennifer Aniston out of her comfort zone: ‘It was terrifying’


In 2018, Dolly Parton and Jennifer Aniston formed a friendship after working on the film together dumplings. Anston starred in the film while Parton provided the soundtrack. While working on the film together, Parton pulled Aniston and co-star Danielle MacDonald out of their comfort zones. Aniston described the experience as both terrifying and exhilarating.

When Parton first dealt with it dumplingsAt first she just wanted to give them a license for her songs. However, she soon agreed to write the theme song with Linda Perry.

“So I teamed up with Linda Perry to write the theme song and boy did we click as musicians, singers and writers,” Parton said ell. “And we just got along. Once we wrote the title song, we just went one by one and wrote songs.”

Parton became deeply involved in the project and formed a friendship with Aniston, who played the main character’s mother. Aniston stated that she was grateful for the chance to work with Parton.

“There’s a lot of Dolly worship out there. Not only did I get to create with her and sing with her, but I actually became friends with her,” she said United States today. “I am humble.”

Parton explained that she dragged the actor into a recording studio

One influence Parton had on the film was bringing Aniston and MacDonald into the studio to record a song together. She explained that nobody wanted to do it.

“I told them, ‘Look, we want you to sing.’ And they said, ‘We can’t sing!’” Parton explained. “And we said, ‘We don’t care, we’ll make sure you sound good. You have to be on this record.’”

Parton explained that she was proud of both actors for trying, despite their initial uneasiness.

“They actually did quite well!” said Parton. “You don’t claim to be a singer. You can always make it sound better if there’s a little note that’s not necessarily pitched right or whatever.”

Aniston explained that she was petrified of singing but ended up happy that she did.

“It was terrifying and funny and all that… it was awesome,” she said ET. “[I was] fearless, yes, or fearful, depending on how you look at it. But I had Dolly and Linda Perry with me who were just patient and wonderful.”

Parton’s husband, Carl Dean, was particularly excited that his wife would be working with Aniston. She explained that he had had a crush on Aniston for a while.

“See, I think he’s fantasizing about a threesome with us,” she joked The Tonight Show. “I’m serious!”

Parton stated that she did not think this arrangement was likely.

“I’m serious! He does,” Parton said, adding, “I mean, he can’t even get it out to pee, let alone get it up for three.”
