Actor and talk show host Drew Barrymore played a larger role behind the scenes of the original Scream movie than in the movie. But while she didn’t share any screen time with the other leading stars, she was apparently able to get close to some of them.
While discussing the film, Barrymore admitted she confided in the co-star — and friends Actor – Courteney Cox when she thought she might be pregnant.

In an episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, The child actor icon spoke out with some of her co-stars Scream — more specifically, the franchise’s longtime survivors, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette. In particular, this status does not include the 2022 film, Scream, the original cast could send knives under Ghostfaces.
However, during their conversation, Barrymore addressed Cox about how chummy they had become during filming. They were so close that she chose them friends star as a “safe person” to talk to about pregnancy concerns. Barrymore recalled Cox, “I remember having a nervous breakdown at the poster shoot because I had the wrong feeling that I was pregnant.”
“I kept asking you, ‘How do you know if you’re pregnant? Like, I’m freaking out! We were supposed to shoot this poster but oh my god I just started dating someone! How do you know that?’” Barrymore continued.
Drew Barrymore felt “safe” with Courteney Cox.
Barrymore explained to Cox that she came to her as a kind of mentor. “I felt safe walking up to you, like you were the mature, safe person in the room,” she said.
Remarkably, Cox and Arquette did not yet have their daughter Coco. But she agreed she was a good choice for the younger star to confide in. She replied, “I was the older one and I was the right person to ask her.”
While Barrymore had those pregnancy worries when she was in her early 20s, she didn’t have her first child until 2012, when daughter Frankie was born. Then, in 2014, she had her second daughter, Olive. She shares her children with her ex-husband, Will Kopelman.

Barrymore’s Concerns About Pregnancy on the Scream Photo shoots seem to be a dominant memory for them. But Cox has one memory she doesn’t seem comfortable talking about — her scream 3 Pony.
During her all-things-Scream In the chat, Cox admitted that she tries to make her character Gale seem a little more “over the top” with each film. A grinning Campbell then added, “Pangs.”
“Oh, well, that was the worst part,” Cox explained. “I’ve forgotten it.”
She went on to say that she learned a valuable lesson as the hairstyle is now part of an iconic film series and something she can never seem to forget for long.
