To the 20th and final season from Keeping up with the Kardashians broadcast on E! Last summer, fans of the Kardashian clan were left without a favorite reality show to cling. Fortunately, the Kardashians are bringing a new saga to the silver screen on Hulu, and she is following in the footsteps of Friends: The goodbye, at least from a production point of view.
Fans know that under their Disney production deal, Kim Kardashian and her famous family will star in a brand new reality series for Hulu. But now that production is said to have started, details are slowly starting to emerge. Executive producers Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Kris Jenner and original KUWTK producer Ryan Seacrest have partnered with production company Fulwell 73, whose previous work has featured high profile projects like One direction: that’s us and the 2021 Grammy Awards ceremony. Fulwell 73 co-founder Ben Winston will also serve as EP, according to reports diversitywith Danielle King taking on the role of show runner.
But how does that have to do with it? Friends: The goodbye? Well, Ben Winston gave the biggest boost for the smash hit special. Corresponding The Hollywood Reporter, he had re-watched the iconic sitcom about the quarantine and inspired him to contact the stars. Many of the special’s best features were directly influenced by Ben Winston, including Lisa Kudrow’s “Smelly Cat” duet with Lady Gaga, the intricately recreated set pieces, and many of the scenes performed as table reads. Ben Winston. is not just the mastermind of the entire operation, also directed the special, and received an Emmy nomination for his efforts.
Ben Winston’s previous work included The Late Late Show with James Corden and the Emmy winner Carpooling karaoke Series on Apple TV +. Cordon also serves as connective tissue here, as it is another production partner of Fulwell 73 as well as the host of the Friends: The goodbye Special. It is not known if he will appear in the new series at all, but I think it would be safe to expect such a result.
With Ben Winston and the Fulwell 73 crew behind the scenes, the new Kardashian-Jenner series is sure to make waves. (Perhaps this will be the year the family earns a joint Emmy-Nom.) The streaming show focuses on the lives and struggles of Kim, Kourtney and Khloé Kardashian, as well as Kylie and Kendall Jenner. According to Hulu, the as-yet untitled show will give fans a glimpse into a “new, intimate journey into their lives,” with more focus on the professional side and a little less focus on romantic relationships.
With almost every Kardashian-Jenner sibling involved in business ventures like SKIMS, Kylie Cosmetics, and Good American, it can be assumed that the show will give a behind-the-scenes look at the running of one or more companies. And with Kourtney Kardashians upcoming wedding with the former Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker, fans could even get a wedding episode out of the deal. It wouldn’t be the first time a Kardashian has televised the planning of their special day. The show could also track Kylie’s latest pregnancy with longtime partner Travis Scott and how she balances that with all of her makeup deals. Fans just have to keep up with the Kardashians to find out.
All 20 seasons of Keeping up with the Kardashians are available for streaming now on Hulu and NBC Peacock, with Friends: The goodbye still available for streaming on HBO Max. The upcoming Kardashian-Jenner series doesn’t have a set premiere date yet, but be sure to check back here on CinemaBlend for future updates.
