Jennifer Aniston is dropping her wellness routine

Jennifer Aniston walks in from her pristine, warmly lit Californian living room, which is a mix of modern and cream furniture, with great hair and ready to answer all of our burning questions, including dispelling a certain salad rumor. “It’s just so funny how something like that has legs,” she says, almost in disbelief over the Zoom call. With her very cute dog (who appears to be one of three dogs she has, probably her most recent rescued Lord Chesterfield) wandering around the back of our zoom, she tells me she has another season next The morning show and a Netflix comedy sequel thriller with Adam Sandler. But today Aniston is on a press tour talking about her new protein bars featuring Vital Proteins, so we thought it would be a good time to ask her about wellness and how she makes her hair so shiny.

Let’s just get that out of the way. I don’t know if you know about this, but it’s very big on TikTok: the first thing it says when you look up your name is “Jennifer Aniston Salad,” and they claim you’ve had the salad for ten years, everyone day eaten. It was bulgur, cucumber, parsley, mint, red onion, chickpeas and a few other ingredients. Is this a go-to salad? Do you have other favorites now? Is there any truth to this salad rumor?

So sad to tell you, there’s no truth to this particular salad, but it sounds delicious. It actually reminds me of a salad I had many years ago that my girl made for me, but it had quinoa in it. It wasn’t bulgur. It wasn’t what I was wearing Friends. This was a chopped salad that wasn’t as exciting as the salad recipe you just read me. But I’m very excited to try this particular one because there are things in it that I’ve never tried before. Now I’m making a TikTok and sharing it with people. I will create my own. I really should start my own and say, “This is what the real deal is.” You can also add the collagen powder to a salad dressing, just a nice little pro tip.

That’s not true. So, what does your self-care routine look like?

Wake up, meditate, walk the dogs, feed the dogs, make coffee, work out and then mostly slide straight into the day. Spiritually, I think my meditation practice has been a key part of my daily activities for all of me, especially in the last few years. Sometimes I have guided meditations. I have an app or I have a few apps that I love because sometimes I want a guided meditation, but I also have a mantra that I received about 11 years ago. I do that too, but mostly with music. Sometimes I just sit outside in total silence and listen to the birds.

How was the manufacturing process of the protein bars with Vital Proteins?

Taste test, taste test, taste test, trying ingredients is very important. The original bars they had that I tried were a little chewy, they were a little big. I’m such a protein bar person because it’s so great for me you’re on the road or in your car driving all over the place.

Are there other superfoods you enjoy or things that are essential to your wellness/beauty routine?

I put maca powder in my shake. People say coffee or matcha, and I’m definitely coffee. Cinnamon, fruits, spinach, all those delicious things that are just essential to your day. Right balance though. It’s all about balance, isn’t it?

You played such an iconic character that people know and love; Are there any characters you’ve seen on TV that you would have loved to play?

Mary Tyler Moore. I love her she was amazing. Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter. I wanted to be Wonder Woman. I wanted to be there too The Hardy Boys. I love Mary Tyler Moore and then Rhoda. Jesus, I am aging myself.

Your hair is so well known, and now you have your own hair care line, LolaVie. Is there a hairstyle or color you’ve wanted to try but were dreading?

I got that out of my system in high school. I made the boysenberry purple, which then turned into this horrible coppery color over time. I would do it myself. Then I cut my hair very short and shaved the sides. I don’t have a face for that. I just stick with what works; If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. This summer I’m leaning into my curls.

What was it like stepping into a dramatic role? The morning show?

It was wonderful. I loved it. I think it was the right time, the right show, at the right time, and I was ready for it. I loved exploring the layers of this character and figuring out who she was, who she is. It’s also very cathartic to play, getting involved in a complicated role. I felt really invigorated. In two and a half months we will start a new season.
