Jennifer Aniston on emotional “Friends” reunion

Jennifer Aniston shares how emotional the stars of Friends were when they did their HBO Max reunion.

During an interview on Podcast “Literally! With Rob Lowe”, Aniston told host Rob Lowe that sharing memories with former co-stars Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry proved bittersweet.

“I think we were all hit a lot harder than we expected,” said Aniston. “Oh, sure. Because in your head you’re like, ‘Oh, this is going to be really fun, time to travel.’ It turns out, ooh, ouch – it’s kind of hard time travel. “

In the two-hour scriptless reunion that aired in May, the show’s stars shared lots of laughter, bombs, and even some tears over their time on Friends, which aired 10 seasons on NBC from 1994-2004.

For starters, Aniston and the others were stunned to see the sitcom’s set reconstructed to “look exactly” as they remembered “except for the little tchotchke on the shelves”.

“All of a sudden you’re here,” Aniston said, remembering the moment she stepped back on the set. “And, you know, a lot has happened to each of us for 16 years. And 16 years ago we were all kind of big eyes and bushy tails and had our whole life before us, so to speak, even though it was heartbreaking for us, ourselves Saying goodbye to these 10 years and this family and these people and the job we all love. And it has brought so much joy to the fans and ourselves. I mean, it was like taking a happy pill every day . “

“So, going back, it’s nostalgic in a way that’s also a little melancholy, you know?” She continued. “Because a lot has changed and we’ve all gone different paths … some easy and some not so easy for each of us.”

Some of the most emotional moments of the reunion were “brutal” to be filmed, Aniston said. “‘There are cameras everywhere and I can’t stop crying,'” she recalls.

Indeed, a tearful exchange ended on the cutting room floor. “There was a time when we were all kind of in a puddle,” recalls Aniston.

Even the “tough guy” LeBlanc got whiny, she added.

“I don’t think we broke David,” she recalls. “But even LeBlanc is broke at some point. You know, Mr. Tough Guy. You know our brother. Lord impenetrable. Our big brother who would kill anyone if he looked at you the wrong way. Even it got a little foggy. “
