Jennifer Aniston used to be “tremendously” worried about Matthew Perry, considering him the “most fragile” member of the cast.
The morning show Stern made a habit of reminding them Fools rush in Actor how much he is loved by millions of fans amid his battle with alcohol and drug addiction.
An insider tells Us weekly, “Jen considered the cast to be her family. She still does, but even more so back then because they were together all the time and made it up the ladder of fame together.”
“It’s fair to say that he was by far the most fragile member of the cast,” added the source. “Jen saw that — it upset her a lot — and she made it a point to visit him whenever she could, on and off set.”
The insider went on to reveal that Aniston has always been supportive of Perry, with whom she had a close relationship, while working on the hit NBC sitcom.
“She would remind him how much he’s done for himself,” the source shared. “That he was loved by millions of fans and that he owed it to himself to live his full potential of a happy and prosperous life free from sabotage and pain.”
Previously, speaking to Diane Sawyer ahead of his memoir Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing In his release, Perry said that Aniston has come forward the most to talk about his drug problem.
“Imagine what a scary moment that was,” he said, before adding, “She was the one who tried the hardest. I am really grateful to her for that.”
He admitted he was taking “55 Vicodin a day” in addition to “methadone, Xanax” and “a full liter of vodka” at the time.
