Johnny Gargano on scrapped NXT plans, a canceled WWE podcast, and his plans for the future

Johnny Gargano hosted his first Twitch stream Tuesday night and made his first public comments since his WWE contract expired, and said goodbye to the NXT brand at the end of last week’s episode. He confirmed a few things throughout the episode, including the fact that the character walking around in the Ghostface mask (which eventually revealed itself to be Austin Theory, which started Gargano’s The Way faction) was supposed to be original Scream Actor and former WCW World Heavyweight Champion David Arquette, although the plans for it failed.

He also talked about a new podcast, which would launch under the WWE banner, in which he and Adam Cole would discuss The Attitude Era. However, Cole went to AEW NXT TakeOver 36 and the pilot episode never saw the light of day.

“We recorded a pilot for a podcast that we hosted,” said Gargano (h / t combative). “We wanted to do a podcast of the Attitude Era. It should be under the WWE banner. We did a pilot and it was with a couple of guests: Malcolm Bivens and Dakota Kai. That was our first two guests podcast somewhere out there that was taped with the four of us talking about the Attitude era. Obviously it didn’t happen, I think, due to the transition from Network to Peacock. It was a podcast that featured episodes from the Attitude Era. It was a lot of fun. Who knows, maybe one day. “

Even though Gargano is a free agent now and is not banned from the 90-day no compete clause that released WWE wrestlers must grapple with, the former NXT Triple Crown Champion added that he plans to do so in the next several months To go down and focus on being a father. Gargano and Candice LeRae are expecting their first child, a little boy, in February.

What do you think where will Gargano go when he’s ready to step back in the ring? Let us know your predictions in the comments!
