Last time the hit NBC comedy won an Emmy

In 2004 the cast of friends logged out for what appears to be the last time. The final episode ended a decade of laughter and a decade of starring the cast at awards shows like the Primetime Emmy Awards. As it turned out, it wasn’t really a goodbye. The cast of friends is again nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award. This time it’s on for her work Friends: The goodbye. You will be surprised when the last time friends won an Emmy.

When was the last time “Friends” won an Emmy?

The cast and crew of friends were regularly nominated for Emmy Awards in all 10 seasons. They didn’t take home many wins, however. The show’s final season, for example, resulted in seven nominations, but the cast and crew received nothing. The last actor to win an Emmy friends wasn’t even a leading man. The final victory associated with the show came in 2003 and went to Christina Applegate.

Applegate appeared as Amy Green in two episodes of the show. She was nominated for the same role in the same category the following year. Applegate wasn’t the only guest star to receive a nod, however. Over the years, friends received 11 nominations in outstanding guest categories. The show as a whole last won a trophy in 2002. It won in the Outstanding Comedy Series category.

Only two of the show’s six lead actors have ever won an Emmy for the show

While friends is by far one of the most popular sitcoms of all time, it apparently wasn’t a huge hit with the voting committee. During its 10-season run, the show was nominated for an incredible 66 Emmys, but it only received six individual trophies. Of these six wins, only two went to leading actors.

Jennifer Aniston earned five nominations for her role as Rachel Green. Lisa Kudrow also took a win. Kudrow, who played Phoebe Buffay, was nominated six times in the “Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series” category. She went home with a single trophy. Interestingly, Aniston has been nominated in both the main and supporting actor categories over the years. Aniston picked up her 2003 win; Kudrow took her statue home with her in 1998.

Courteney Cox could pick up her first Emmy for “Friends” more than two decades after the series premiered

2021 could be Courteney Cox’s year. While Cox was largely considered the most famous performer when friends her initial clout didn’t translate into Emmy wins. In fact, Cox, who played Monica Geller for a decade, left friends as the only actress who never received an Emmy nomination for her work. In the years that followed, she had not received any other awards, although she had worked on several successful projects.

Now, for the first time, Cox is nominated for Friends: The goodbye. The rest of the cast shares the nomination. After the announcement, Cox considered finally getting recognition from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. To say their response has been overwhelming is an understatement. Cox told Entertainment Weekly that she was glad the Academy recognized the reunion, but that the nomination wasn’t “the Emmy I was looking for.” Cox is still a little hurt from the cold shoulder she got from the academy all these years.
