A source told MailOnline: “Oti is at the top of her game and her earning potential is at an all-time high.

“It’s reasonable that she uses her popularity to capitalize on the success she’s worked so hard to achieve over the past decade.

Another factor in Oti’s decision to leave Strictly was the fact that she has twice won the Glitterball trophy.

She topped the charts in 2019 with Kelvin Fletcher, 38, and the following year, along with partner Bill Bailey, 57, becoming the first professional dancer to win in consecutive years.

The source added: “Oti loves the show and everyone involved with it but after her successes over the past few years she feels she’s already reached the pinnacle and from a competitive perspective it was the right time to do it walk.

“She knows she will always be considered one of the best professional dancers on the show of all time.”

In a statement posted to Instagram yesterday, Oti confirmed: “It’s never easy to say goodbye. I’ve been a part of the greatest TV show Strictly Come Dancing for the past seven years and it’s been an amazing time.

“To raise the glitter ball twice and have the best trip with all my celebrities but also to meet and work with the best team, best crew, best producers, celebs and incredible professional dancers!

“You are my family and I adore you all forever. Thanks @sarahjamesface @jack.will.g and @jasongilkison for really believing in me.

“I’m honestly so grateful to the BBC and will always remember that Strictly and the BBC brought me to the UK – which I now call home and I’ve learned and grown so much. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.’

The strict judge Motsi, 40, guided the younger sister Oti in her approach to judging and giving her tips.

She made her debut as a judge in 2019 alongside Cheryl Tweedy, 38, on BBC One series The Greatest Dancer, but her move to ITV show The Masked Dancer impressed bosses and eventually led to her role as a judge on Dancing On Ice.

The South African dancer was also recently announced as the host of new ITV dating show Romeo & Duet, telling her Instagram followers last month: “My heart is filled with excitement and joy at this announcement.”
