Ghostface will make a comeback to the big screen in Scream 6. Given how well Scream’s “reboot” went, this shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise.

Ghostface returned in Scream (or Scream 5 if you prefer) and unleashed his brutality on a new round of gullible teenagers. However, Ghostface wasn’t the only familiar face from the first series. The original three, Sidney, Dewey, and Gale, also made a comeback, trying to help the youngsters survive.

While the events of Scream were a story in and of themselves, they are expected to have a significant impact on the series’ subsequent continuation. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming Scream 6, and everything we’ve learned so far in light of it.

Release date of Scream 6

It has been announced that Scream 6 will premiere in theaters on March 31, 2023.

The sequel has been in production since June 2022, so everything seems to be on track for the film to hit theaters in March 2023.

Scream 6 cast

The most important update is that Neve Campbell will not be reprising her role as Sidney Prescott.

She said “real” “negotiation” concerns ultimately determined the election. “I didn’t think the offer I received matched the value I bring to this business and have brought to this franchise for 25 years,” she said.

Courteney Cox will reprise her role as Gale Weathers in the next film, alongside Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, who played sisters Sam and Tara Carpenter in key roles in the fifth film.

The fact that Scream 4 star Hayden Panettiere will be reprising her role as Kirby Reed in the next film is more good news that could soften the impact of losing Sidney. We first saw them come back in August 2022.

Neither of them are currently playing against anyone that we know of.

Billy Loomis, played by Skeet Ulrich, made a surprise appearance in the sixth film and turned out to be Sam’s father. Even if he only appears in her hallucinations and is essentially dead, comparable appearances in the upcoming film are still possible.

After a brief cameo in the 2020 film Scream, which also featured voice cameos from Drew Barrymore, Matthew Lillard, and Jamie Kennedy, we got to see Heather Matarazzo reprise her role as Martha Meeks. but not as their fictional characters, Casey, Stu, and Randy, who must all be deceased in the Scream world.

Despite this, some characters from the 2020 film Scream are not returning for Scream 6 due to plot-related reasons, such as David Arquette’s Dewey Riley, who was cruelly killed by Ghostface in the fifth film.

Scream 6 plot

The new Scream isn’t really preparing for a sequel, as has been said, and neither are the previous films. Sam and Tara Carpenter certainly appear to be the main protagonists of the new franchise in the new film, especially considering Sam’s relationship with the first film as Billy’s daughter.

This would inevitably make her a target, just like Sidney was in the first three films. We’d like to think that all subsequent films will stick with this strategy because thankfully Scream avoided the simple twist of turning Sam into a killer like her father.

“Our approach was that she has now accepted that Billy is a part of her. And although he never will Not be a part of her, she needs to carry that forward now,” co-director Matt Bettinelli-Olpin told Fandom.

“We had a cut of the film where she was still medicating herself at the end and we all decided it would be better not to let her do that and actually make it look like she wasn’t just.” back to where she started meditating away her past and that she is actually able to accept Billy as a part of who she is.”

Currently, the only plot-related certainty is that any upcoming film would poke fun at contemporary horror and cinematic phenomena. We’ll have to wait and see what Scream targets next after taking on a toxic fandom and Requels.

Also, we’re not sure how they’ll handle Sidney’s absence, which will no doubt crop up. However, it would be shocking if they murdered Sidney off-screen; So expect a one-liner about her decision not to participate this time.
