Starz sets premiere date for horror comedy series – deadline

Starz has set a March premiere date for Shining valley, with Courteney Cox, Greg Kinnear and Mira Sorvino. The cross-genre horror comedy series will air on Sunday March 6th at 10:00 pm on all Starz platforms in the US and Canada and will air day and date internationally on StarzPlay in Europe, Latin America and Japan.

Shining valley date back to Try and lose Co-creator Jeff Astrof and divorce creator Sharon Horgan. Lionsgate and Warner Bros. Television are co-producing the series in association with Aaron Kaplans Kapital Entertainment, Astrofs Other Shoe Productions, and Horgan and Clelia Mountfords Merman.

Gus Birney and Dylan Gage also star.

Written by Astrof from a story he wrote with Horgan, Shining valley is described as part of a family comedy with an homage to classic horror. It’s about a dysfunctional family moving from the city to a small town, to a house where terrible atrocities have taken place. But except for Patricia “Pat” Phelps (Cox), who believes she is depressed or obsessed, nobody seems to notice – it turns out that the symptoms are exactly the same. Pat is a former “wild kid” who became famous for writing a raunchy, drug- and alcohol-soaked female empowerment novel (also known as lady porn). Now, 17 years later, Pat is clean and sober, but completely unfulfilled. She still hasn’t written her second novel, she can’t remember the last time she had sex with her husband Terry (Kinnear), and her teenage children Gaynor (Birney) and Jake (Gage) don’t want anything to do with her do have. She was a loyal wife to the point of her only slip: she had a hot affair with the hot young handyman who came over to fix the sink while Terry was at work. In a last-ditch effort to save their marriage, she and Terry cash in all of their savings and move the family from the “crazy” town to a big old house in the suburbs with a story of its own. Everyone has their demons, but for Pat Phelps they can be real.

Shining valley is produced by Astrof of Other Shoe Productions, Horgan and Clelia Mountford of Merman, and Aaron Kaplan and Dana Honor of Kapital Entertainment as executive producers. Courteney Cox is a producer. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television and Lionsgate Television in association with Other Shoe Productions, Merman and Kapital Entertainment.
