The Bethlehem Academy’s homecoming tradition continues


The Bethlehem Academy in Faribault has a tradition of crowning a homecoming king, with candidates for the king each inviting a classmate to be their escort.

The Bethlehem Academy Cardinals soccer team will receive Kenyon-Wanamingo at Bruce Smith Field this Friday evening. The kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

The game will be broadcast on KDHL 920 AM, 97.9 FM and worldwide in the FREE KDHL app with coverage from 6:45 p.m.

This week there will be theme days and activities at the Bethlehem Academy.

  • Monday: Celebrity Day.
  • Tuesday: Dress like your parent’s day.
  • Wednesday: Dress Up Your Best Day.
  • Thursday: Decades Day …. 6th grade, 1940s, 7th grade, turn of the century (1800, 1900, 2000), 8th grade, 1990s, 9th grade, 1920s, 10th grade, 1970s, 11th grade 1960s, 12th grade Class, 1980s.
  • Friday, ghost day.

The coronation of the Homecoming King will take place on Friday, October 1st, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in the Van Orsow Auditorium at the end of a Noon Pepfest.

The Homecoming King and Court will lead a modified Homecoming Parade at 1:30 p.m. that begins on 1st Street SW next to Divine Mercy Catholic School and runs around the block.

Candidates for Homeking King include:

  • Matthew Croke, son of Sarah and Andrew Croke. Matthew is accompanied by Elizabeth Cohen, daughter of Liz Cronin and Brad Cohen.
  • Andrew Donahue, son of Julie and Tim Donahue. Andrew’s escort is Molly Lund, daughter of Bridget and Brock Lund.
  • Matthew Nelson, son of Mary and Todd Nelson. Matthew is accompanied by Madelyn Bauer, the daughter of Crystal and Preston Bauer.
  • Brady Strodtman, son of Jill and Richard Strodtman. Brady is accompanied by Mia Potter, the daughter of Anne and Steve Potter.
  • Aiden Tobin, son of Kari and Jason Tobin. Aiden is accompanied by Madelyn Gersemehl, the daughter of Emily and Matthew Gersemehl.

You may remember that there was no pep festival or parade last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
