Two former Warren residents who have been married for more than five decades recently celebrated their 100th birthdays.
Jeannie and Milton Dahler met friends and family in Bradenton, Florida, where the couple has lived since 2004.
Jeannie Dahler was born on February 22, 1922 while Milton Dahler was born a few months later. Last week’s celebration was particularly significant in that her 100th birthday was on February 22, 2022, which is considered a palindrome date – 02/22/22 – as it reads the same front to back.
On May 29 of this year, Milton Dahler officially celebrates his hundredth birthday.
Son Dave Dahler said the gathering was to honor both of his parents on their birthdays; Last summer, the couple celebrated 51 years of marriage at their home in Freedom Village, Bradenton.
“Your love is an inspiration to our family,” Dave Dahler to the Bradenton Herald newspaper. “They were just amazing together and I think that’s why they made it to 100.”
Mark Dahler said his parents met in 1935 at Warren Junior High School. They later got back together and were married on August 28, 1970.
The couple moved from Warren to Sarasota, Florida in 1994 before relocating to Bradenton a decade later.
Mark Dahler said his parents’ love of the beach drew them to sunny Florida, an ideal place to visit with family “escape the Nordic weather.”
He added, “They are well known, loved and admired in their community because they brighten up others’ days with their kindness, humor and smiling faces. They live each day to the fullest and are blessed to still have each other.”
During the February 22 gathering, Jeannie Dahler received several gifts, birthday cards, flowers and congratulatory letters from Bradenton Mayor Gene Brown and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Jeannie and Milton Dahler have four sons, eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
